How can I organise everything before my baby arrives?
Start with the decisions that affect several other tasks: where your baby will sleep, your leave income and the care you may need when you return to work. Work through one decision at a time and leave optional purchases until you know they solve a real problem.
This organiser connects your newborn essentials checklist, baby budget calculator, baby-name shortlist and childcare comparison. Open a tool, make your choices and return here to see what you saved. Use the calculator’s save button when you want to keep a new estimate.
What should I put in my family plan?
| Decision | A useful next step | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | Measure the available space, then choose a safe sleep space and a manageable clothing rotation | Treating every optional gadget as essential |
| Money | Compare expected take-home pay with regular bills and one-off costs | Adding the checklist total to the calculator total, which already includes equipment |
| Names | Save a few favourites and try them aloud with the surname | Assuming a name’s popularity is the same in every UK nation |
| Childcare | Ask for comparable written quotes and visit shortlisted settings | Comparing a term-time weekly fee with a year-round fee |
Where is my family plan saved?
It is saved using this browser’s local storage, with no account and no upload of your entries. It does not sync to another phone, browser or device. Anyone who can use this browser profile may be able to view it. Private browsing or clearing site data can remove your plan.
Use Print your plan for a paper copy or save as PDF through your browser’s print window. Download summary saves a readable JSON file of the summary on your device; it is not an importable backup. Individual tools retain the detailed entries. The clear button asks before removing the connected plans and saved names.
What if my family is already beyond the newborn stage?
Choose Baby, Toddler or Family to open the right stage guides. The childcare comparison is useful for a first nursery place or a change of provider. Our return-to-work guide can help you plan the handover and routine. Skip any planning task that is not relevant to your family.

Family Organiser: common questions
Is the family organiser free?
Yes. It is free, with no account. Your checklist, selected budget estimate, baby-name shortlist and nursery comparison are saved in the browser you use.
Will my plan sync to my partner’s phone?
No. Plans stay in one browser profile. Print your summary or download it to share a copy yourself.
Should I add the newborn checklist and baby calculator totals together?
No. Both include baby equipment, so adding them would count some spending twice. Use the checklist for your own item budgets and the calculator as a separate broad estimate.
