Only if you fly, use trains a lot, or have a tiny boot. A compact is a second chair, not a cheaper substitute for British pavements and parks. What a compact is for

Airports, city flats, grandparents' cars. Not gravel towpaths, not a carrycot every day, not twins.

What to buy instead

Parks and kerbs: a full-size pushchair. Two children: a double. Flying twice a year: add a compact rather than replacing the main pram.
