Here's what's genuinely useful to know. ## What does premature actually cover? Premature means born before 37 weeks, but it's a wide range with very different experiences: * **Extremely preterm:** before 28 weeks * **Very preterm:** 28–32 weeks * **Moderate to late preterm:** 32–37 weeks (the largest group by far) The earlier the birth, the more specialist care is typically needed, but even "late preterm" babies (34–37 weeks) often need a bit more feeding and temperature support than a full-term baby before they're ready to go home. ## What is corrected age and why does it matter? Corrected age (or adjusted age) is your baby's age counted from their original due date, not their actual birth date.
