Baby month by month

Baby month by month — development milestones, feeding, sleep and play for every month of the first year, from newborn to one. General, NHS-aligned and answer-first.

Quick answer — What milestones should my baby hit in the first year?

Babies develop at very different rates, so these are typical ranges rather than targets.
Broadly: smiling by around 2 months, rolling and grabbing by 4–6 months, sitting and
starting solids around 6 months, crawling and pulling to stand by 8–10 months, and first
words and steps around a year. Your health visitor and red book track your baby personally.
